Posted by Hans in : site announcement , add a commentI know I haven’t written anything in quite some time. I’ve been caught up in a few projects that have been taking up my time, but I plan on posting some thoughts based on the recent experiences I’ve had.
- I hope to do some posting about my experiences with my dentist and how technologies are being used in that area of health care.
- Some thoughts about the dichotomy between industry and academia in terms of the outlook of ehealth
- Some thoughts on recent developments in the mobile/handheld world. By this, I mean specifically Apple’s iPhone and some of the potential implications for health care

Site News - Update complete January 10, 2008
Posted by hans in : site announcement , add a commentAs mentioned previously, I’ve been in the process of moving and updating the site. Now that finished checking all of the posts to verify internal page links, I hope to start posting more frequently.
In the meantime, here are some changes/features from using the Wordpress platform:
- New Look: No doubt, you’ve probably already noticed some of the cosmetic changes in the look. I’m using the Regulus theme created by Ben Gillbanks.
- Tags & Categories: Posts now have category and have tag markers. I’m still working on getting the both the categories and tags just right, but hopefully you’ll now have better ways of finding related posts. I sort of gave-up on tagging all of the past posts, but you should be able to search for articles using key-words.
- Comment Notification: If you leave a comment, you can now be notified of follow-up comments.
- Sidebar Changes: The sidebar has been changed. I’m in the process of refining the sidebar, but you can find posts organized by categories, links to archives, a tag cloud, in addition to useful links.
- No more Atom feed: Unfortunately, one of the things I lost was the Atom feed. From what I can tell, Google/Blogger is essentially the only entity using Atom as RSS seems to be the new standard. As such, I’m not going to look into finding a work-around. My apologies to anyone who has been using the Atom feed.
I’ve finished updating all of the old links to posts so hopefully everything is ready for 2008 and beyond. I plan to do much more writing this year. Happy reading.

Site Maintenance & Upgrades October 31, 2007
Posted by Hans in : site announcement , 1 comment so farSorry for not posting lately, but I’ve been busy working to secure some post-PhD opportunities and it’s been taking up most of my time. Nothing to share just yet, but it’s been hectic.
I will be changing hosting companies in the immediate future and plan to change blogging platform. For those interested, I’m currently using Blogger, but have decided to switch to Wordpress. The actual transfer should only take a day or two, but I’ll be spending the next little while verifying links and making sure everything gets transferred correctly. In my past experiences of changing software platforms, the process can be quite tiresome.
My apologies for any inconveniences, but I hope to be up and running soon. My timeline to have everything completed is mid-November.

Technical difficulties January 10, 2007

I was doing some server maintenance (mostly back-ups and cleaning up some files) and I seem to be experiencing some technical difficulties with the blog. My apologies to anyone who is looking for older articles/posts and can’t get to them. Hopefully this issue will be resolved shortly.

Offline because of computer woes April 20, 2005

Apparently, my Sharp laptop doesn’t like some of the software I installed recently. I wonder if other systems have this issue. As I was telling someone today, I’d rather just use technology that’s reliable and works.

FYI…
1. This blog’s location is now “http://www.blog.hansoh.com” as I’ve acquired web-hosting services from a great company called Ixwebhosting.
2. Mailing updates are now available. You just need to contact me and I’ll put you on a mailing list so you can get the latest posting. Blogger.com is also offering atom feeds. I’ll post more about that later.
3. If you’re interested, you can view the updated hansoh.com site that is to be posted soon. I think you’ll notice that it’s an homage to the www.apple.com site.
